This high level of security was one of the main reasons why Moorfields agreed to use this system as their main refractive tool.
Prof. David gartry
Moorfields Eye Hodpital, London, UK

Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of eye health services in the UK and a world-class center of excellence for ophthalmic research and education.

Professor David Gartry is a senior consultant at Moorfields. With over 32 years of experience he is one of the world’s leading authorities on laser eye surgery and, in fact, was the first surgeon to perform laser eye surgery in the UK. David is also a specialist in cataract, refractive lens exchange, and corneal surgery.

Professor Gartry founded the Wimpole Eye Clinic in 2015. From the beginning, it has been a center for excellence in eye treatment. He and his team of eye specialists have not only established a high standard of expertise, care, and results: David carries out all of his treatments at the world-famous Moorfields Eye Hospital, where his patients benefit from the best and most comprehensive aftercare available.

The best possible patient outcome is the goal of the web-based IBRA Digital Health Suite software system manufactured by Zubisoft. IBRA has been designed to support refractive surgeons to analyse and improve the refractive and visual outcomes and to obtain the highest eye care standards.

“Security appears to be similar to that for online banking”

Professor Gartry and his team of surgeons treat patients, through Moorfields Hospital and The Wimpole Clinic, in more than thirty locations in and around London. They provide first-class care and treatment locally, in close proximity to patients’ homes and workplaces. Because Professor Gartry and his team are frequently shifting locations to treat patients, they need to access patients’ data, analysis and outcomes safely and securely from anywhere. IBRA is a web-based software system and is accessible wherever surgeons need it. Professor Gartry says, “Because IBRA uses the Internet we could enter and analyse the data at the main hospital, at the private patient unit and at other hospital sites; as well as at home over the weekend. It only needs an Internet access. This was very convenient and meant that we could enter data at any time without having the carry around laptop, records and data.”

Security is crucial in processing personal medical data, and, as Professor Gartry notes, IBRA software uses only the highest standards to create a secure working environment without losing ease of use and quick access. “The system is easy to use…The software always runs quickly, and the security appears to be similar to that for online banking - and therefore I belief it is very safe indeed. This high level of security was one of the reasons why Moorfields agreed to use this system as their main refractive tool.”

“I was fascinated about the possibilities“

Other clinics regularly refer patients to Professor Gartry due to his extensive experience with more complex problems. Professor Gartry has found IBRA’s multiple advanced technical features especially useful in these complex treatments: “I was fascinated about the concept and the possibilities this program could offer to the whole refractive service at Moorfields…. Once some preoperative and postoperative patient data was recorded, we were able to perform complex refractive and visual outcome analyses, using the Waring graphs and others. I also use the nomogram function to optimise the laser settings”.

“RCO Certificate - The functions of IBRA are fully compatible “

Professor Gartry, being both a highly experienced ophthalmologist and passionate about quality eye care, is a founder and an examiner of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is also a member of the committee responsible for the College’s guidelines on laser refractive surgery, and in this capacity, he acknowledges the importance of IBRA. “I was fascinated about…the possibilities this program could offer…especially in view of the need for future detailed audits…The functions of IBRA are fully compatible with, and fulfil the requirements regarding individual outcome analyses (case portfolio/audit) surgeons have to present to obtain the RCO certificate.”

We at Zubisoft are proud to support Professor Gartry and his team at Moorfields Eye Hospital and The Wimpole Clinic to achieve their goals. Our leading software IBRA provides a reliable, simple and easily accessible tool to collect, analyse and improve refractive and visual outcomes, for the most complex treatments with the most secure standards.
